WAYS TO GIVE
Leave a Lasting Legacy
Today, we invite you to consider a meaningful way to deepen your impact through legacy giving. By including Turtle Island in your estate planning, you can ensure the future of turtle conservation for generations to come.
Legacy gifts allow you to support endangered turtles and tortoises far into the future. You may choose to leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a gift in honor of a loved one through your will or other planned giving arrangements. These gifts can also provide potential tax benefits and may help reduce estate taxes for your loved ones.
Through thoughtful planning today, you can leave a lasting mark on the protection of these remarkable animals and the ecosystems they depend on.
The Power of Legacy Gifts
Legacy gifts can have a profound impact. At a time when Turtle Island faced unexpected financial challenges, including construction expenses, weather-related damages, rising energy costs, and increased food prices, a surprise legacy donation became a lifeline for our organization.
This generous gift helped stabilize our operations and ensured that the turtles in our care continued to receive the food, warmth, and medical attention they needed. We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity and the lasting impact it has had on our mission.
Name a Turtle Species
Another unique way to create a lasting legacy is through our Name a Turtle Species program.
By naming a newly discovered turtle species, you can permanently associate your name, or the name of someone you wish to honor, with the discovery and protection of a remarkable animal.
Make an Impact
This rare opportunity allows you to connect your legacy with the scientific discovery and conservation of a species, helping raise awareness and support for its protection.
Why It Matters
Naming a species is a critical step in conservation. It distinguishes a species scientifically, draws attention to its conservation needs, and helps ensure it is recognized and protected. Without proper identification and recognition, many species risk disappearing before they are even fully understood.
Currently, three extraordinary turtles await names:
- Two European pond turtles from separate continents
- A Bornean softshell turtle
Your contribution will secure this unique naming opportunity while supporting essential work such as habitat preservation, scientific research, and community outreach. Your generosity will directly contribute to protecting these endangered species and ensuring their survival for generations to come.
